Meet Miss Alabama
Anna Laura Bryan of Decatur was crowned Miss Alabama 2012 on Saturday, June 9, 2012. Anna Laura is a 2012 graduate of Samford University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Interior Design, and a 2008 honors graduate of Decatur High School. She intends to become a registered Interior Designer and work for an architecture firm. Anna Laura is a talented and versatile vocalist and was a 4-time talent winner at the Miss Alabama Pageant from 2009 – 2012.
Anna Laura’s personal community service platform is P.A.W.S. for Autism: People and Animals Working Side-by-Side. She wrote and lobbied for Alabama House Bill 502 which addresses the need for service dogs in Alabama public schools. She received 2 Resolutions from the State Legislature for her platform work and was also featured in USA Today.
Anna Laura is a member of Gamma Sigma Alpha Greek Academic Honor Society, was on the Dean’s List, and is a recipient of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Silver Medal. She was Morgan County’s Distinguished Young Woman 2008, Miss Samford University 2009, Miss Jefferson County 2010, Miss Trussville 2011, and Miss Hoover 2012. She served as a Delegate for Alabama House Representative Arthur Payne, and was a Student Representative for Samford University’s Interior Architecture re-accreditation process, a Disciple for the Campus Outreach Summer Beach Project, and the Phi Mu New Member Committee Chairman Assistant.
Anna Laura sang for the Governor at the 2010 Legislative Prayer Breakfast, and Chapter 2 in Richmond Webster’s, Snapshots of Hope, is a story about her. She is the daughter of Norwood and Kathy Bryan and has one brother, William.
